"Needs a switch to allow the user to force the phone screen to stay on. My LG V40 running 8.1 will only allow me to force the screen to stay on for a maximum of 10 minutes."

"The app works at a minimal level. The base maps are basic and the Bluetooth connection to my phone is flaky, messages don`t sync and sometimes send twice or not at all. Better to just use the inreah directly if you want to be sure something sent. So much potential here but the app is weak."

"It used to be helpful: able to do tracking, routes and waypoints on a phone
WITHOUT having to also spend $300 on Inreach device, but they seem to have
taken away that functionality."

"I hike the SoCal mountains and as much as I love the concept of the device my luck has really been hit or miss. I never really know if its going to work. From 14K feet up you`d think it would be almost perfect. Unfortunately it makes me wonder is the SOS would even work. I`ve used mine a year now with different phones. Galaxy Note 2 now. Still unreliable. Im not sure why I still keep my subscription. :/"

"Oh dear. The website let`s me log in but the app won`t let me log in using the same credentials. It says ` incorrect password`. This issue has been floating around for 4 years. Seriously."

"All in all a horrible app. If you download maps for offline use the app crashes more than it works. If you only use it for messaging, the app has to be forced closed and reopened most of the time to get new messages off inreach device. This app if designed properly could really enhance it`s inreach devices capabilities but after reading other reviews it seems as if the app is just a selling point that they abandoned after device is sold."

"Yes, this app is pretty terrible. Sometimes the app and inreach connect via bluetooth, sometimes they don`t. Incoming messages show on the inreach, but never make it to the app. Outgoing messages frequently show as sent on the inreach, but show as still sending on the app. I haven`t even tried anything with maps. I hope the SOS works. What a piece of garbage."

"Finally a topo app that lets you have offline maps that cover large areas without hours of tedious work! Everybody knows you won`t have a data connection in the majority of areas you will be using topo maps."

"This app would be great if it worked. Consistent problems maintaining connection to the inreach, and as others have observed, requires constant pairing and unpairing over Bluetooth to get the messages through. The firmware update over Bluetooth also doesn`t seem to work..."

"Helping me go back home with zero visibility!!! I admire this Garmin Inreach, otherwise I`d be lost and found dead if it wasn`t for this Garmin Inreach that I have! Thanks to the developers who made this device that has helped me throughout my near-death experiences!!! Thank you and God Bless You all!!!"

"Earthmate management of Contacts is very poor. First, the app urges the user to keep the contact list small to save space/make it easier to manage, but then it continually badgers you to sync with your Contacts. I have thousands of Contacts and only care to interact with a half dozen. Once you sync with contacts there`s no way to clean out or tag them in the app to segregate. Furthermore, I entered contacts in the desktop web app and did a sync and they do not appear in the Earthmate app."

"Wow lots of promise. I`m an avid GPS user, and use my InReach primarily for messaging. This app makes me want to use it for its mapping. Love the OSM and Topo maps! My chief complaint which will make me uninstall this app between trips is the CONSTANT BATTERY DRAIN! Even after killing the app, the auto scheduler in the background for firmware updates or something is taking up significant battery life. FIX this please!"

"Fairly decent app but, like others, the complexity of the Garmin app, application, device ecosystem is confusing. I`m disappointed that Earthmate is not available for Android Auto, which I used regularly on my 9`` LCD display on my Alpine Halo9 head unit in my overland vehicle. Garmin should add ``Enable Earthmate on Android Auto & Apple Carplay`` to the development backlog for a future release of the Earthmate app."

"I recorded a track but the app does not have an export to GPX option. When doing sync method with Garmin`s portal, Earthmate app is not uploading the recorded tracks neither. So no way to use my tracking log. Really? I can get better capabilities from my phone`s GPS using free apps than using this Garmin`s version of Earthmate. Have you tried Garmin` chat support? Only to get a ``retrieving config`` message. Perhaps InReach should have remained at DeLorme."
