"Only does words, does not do sentences. So I will still need other materials to learn the language. Seems very lacking to not do sentences at all It is fun to play, though. And the lady who does the speaking for Icelandic sounds dreamy Can`t say in strong enough words how much I hate the orange screen wanting me to spell out Chinese characters. Should be a way to opt out of that option."

"I used to love this app so much, but the more I used it the worse I realised it was. For the record my streak is at 482 days, before that I had 45 days. I know this app, and it disappointed me. It has so much potential, a great concept. The execution on the other hand is just not good. Problems: clock not working properly, a lot of mismatch between words and sounds, slow loading"

"I like the functions of this app, it`s good for expanding vocab. I wish you could choose the speed of the speech. I would buy premium except you can`t buy premium just for 1 language. Why would I pay £60 for 45 languages when I only want 1? Please give a cheaper option for people who don`t want every language on the app 😭"

"Excellent app! Have been using it for over a year and helps with speaking, comprehension, and writing. Definitely a great refresher! Only one critique - the written words sometimes don`t match with the spoken."

"Really enjoying my 5 minutes of Cantonese a day. Would really love it if this app covered the different tones to begin with and also provided some information on direct translations i.e. the words for spoon contain the material and the object. Most Cantonese speaking people don`t use the two words together. This sort of direct translation would help me to remember the words better."

"Just giving me images instead of words often is poor. I can`t understand what some images mean. If you give me an image for something abstract like `thank you`, then I needs English words alongside. It`s fine for something like ``apple`` though. This makes for a frustrating start to an otherwise pretty app"

"I got the app and really enjoyed the free section so I bought the full app and then suddenly a new update changed at least half of what I had just learned. I asked a native Cantonese speaker and was told that the way they have it now is equivalent to English speakers using Shakespearean English. The app very promtly gave me my money back when I complained but it was very dissapointing and wouldn`t want people thinking this is how Cantonese speakers actually talk to each other."

"I really like this app, it is easy to use. In only a couple days, I feel like I have learn a lot. The only downside, to me, is when learning a new word, I wish there would be a step by step on how to hand write it."

"I love Drops because it teaches Cantonese. No other software that starts free teaches Cantonese with such fluency and with such effective tools as Drops. It has coursework, scheduling, mastering, and subtle reminders of the words in your own native tongue without the fear of keeping you dependent on seeing your own language. It encourages you to learn the word. Drops also has Mandarin."

"I loved and hated this app in equal measure. The visuals are great and the games brilliant. I was thrilled to finally find a great app! However after a while you realise that you`re learning to speak vocab which isn`t spoken Cantonese but actually comes from the written characters which is totally different however Drops doesn`t make that distinction. If you were a beginner you wouldn`t know you were learning the wrong words."

"A fun interface. But there are problems. As of Feb 2023, the app sometimes and inconsistently teaches MANDARIN Chinese instead of CANTONESE! The app update at around 29 May 2020 was great, but got worse with the 10 June 2020 update. My family (who are fluent) tell me that some pronunciation is also incorrect - some voice actors speaking do not sound native Cantonese. The `Simply` and `Nemo` apps are better for Cantonese. The app also freezes, but customer service have been unable to fix it."

"I have been using this app for the last couple of years to learn Cantonese. Over the last few days Drops has failed to load quite often so today I updated the app. Now the app wants me to track my progress by using email, google, fb or apple account with no opt-out but now it doesn`t even load on my device! Go back to how it was before please."
