"The Sibley Guides to Birds have been the premiere guide for birders all around. David Allen Sibley makes his guides succinct, intuitive and easy to understand. He makes bird identification a snap, with bird songs, calls, ID markers, plumage, colors, patterns, range maps, etc. It is an essential tool for birders of all ages."

"Have to downgrade my review to 4 stars because of more errors and bugs lately. For example, swiping left-right to change species is sometimes too sensitive, sometimes not enough; missing/swapped range maps (e.g. WEWP, WEGU); and app menu has wrong descriptions for options. But still a very useful and well-envisioned app. Based on the book, but layout and navigation is totally reimagined to be much more powerful and easy to use than an eBook, plus of course you get the sounds too."

"Beautiful illustrations. I like that it downloads everything so you don`t need a network connection after it is installed. And I like that it is pay once, NOT a subscription. Those 2 things make it a rare app these days. Definitely worth buying."

"With recent updates the app has been glitching and closely abruptly, especially when I`m trying to go to the compare species section on a bird profile"

"The book is fantastic, but the app has some serious problems that need to be fixed. There are a number of issues related to incorrect or incomplete display of bird information on my Samsung Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy S21 5G. Thumbnails do not display correctly (many birds have heads cut off) and some species do not display range maps (e.g., Olive-sided Flycatcher). I thought the new version may have fixed these issues, but it did not."

"Bought this mostly for the Compare function which doesn`t work most of the time. When is this going to be fixed?"

"A great app in version 1, now with improvements over that previous version: Zoom in into maps, complete state lists (a bit excessive), show similar species, frequency indicators, collapseable bird groupings are only a few of the useful, new features."

"I`ve used the earlier version of this app and am glad it got an update. However, on the beta version of Android Q on my Pixel 3 XL, the app won`t load, including after a reinstall. It shows a blank screen with a progress bar stuck a ``0MB/0MB`` and below that a ``pause`` button that doesn`t do anything. Force-quitting and reinstalling the app didn`t help. I know it`s a beta, but almost all my other apps work with no bother, and I`m hoping this gets resolved before the final release."

"The app itself works well, but as of Dec 2020 it seems that the plates in this android version are still the ones from the first printing of the 2nd edition book in 2014, which were all too dark and this was corrected in later printings. scarlet tanager for example is still in this app right now a dark rather than bright red. According to many places this was supposed to have been fixed in the app, but it`s not! At 6 years after the book was published and for a fairly pricey app, seems sloppy."

"Excellent on the go field guide. Has detailed illustrations, information, range maps, and audio for every bird, and a compare similar birds feature. My only complaints are with search. You can`t search by scientific name (ex: Dryobates), and you must include dashes in names (ex: Red-tailed hawk)."

"Like the first run of the book, some of the plates are off color. Also the map for Key West Quail Dove shows the bird in California! These are pretty egregious errors! I look to apps like this to help figure out difficult birds, if I can`t trust that the maps or birds are represented accurately, the app is of no use. At best this could be considered a beta version. It works, just not for bird I.D. What`s the timeline for correcting these problems?"

"Great App and Great Customer Service! I was having trouble export/importing my lifelist to a new phone. After exchanging IMs on their facebook page, the customer support person *called* me and walked me through the process. I`ve never had that experience with any other app purchase."

"If you`ve read any of the reviews below you probably already know two things about this app: 1) It was delayed for almost four years for unknown reasons and 2) The initial release was a little buggy and featured some of the wrong art and some confusing maps. The good news is that despite the huge delay in release, there was a fairly expedient response to the bug reports and an update was released this week to resolve most of the issues. This gives me hope that the app will be well supported in the future and keep up with taxonomic changes and hopefully improve on the feature set already in place. Previous to this, I used the original Sibley app almost daily. I liked it, but definitely wished for some improvements. I was happy to see that the 2nd edition fixed a lot of the things I`d complained about. One major change that I really appreciate is the addition of a significant amount of written text for each species. This has been one area where the print edition of the book suffered a bit and the addition of additional text is a big improvement. There have also been improvements in the comparison feature. Now you can also look at dimensions (wingspan, weight, etc."

"Good content but usability / interface sometimes flakey. Sometime you can`t scroll a list in portrait mode. Also when listening to songs and calls things get interrupted when phone is turned and screen switches between portrait and landscape mode. Yellow-breasted Chat still shows up under New World Warblers is search function. It was moved out of that family five years ago."
