"The AI is not very advanced and the game is pretty simple. You have troop types and terrain/training/flanking/etc that effects the numbers. However, there isn`t really that much strategy to the game. The scenarios are set up in a way that basically whoever attacks first with the strongest troops will win. At least, that is how it appears whenever I play. With that said, these developers are the only ones who make games like this on the Android store. Until that changes, this is what you are stuck with if you want to see troops fighting each other board game style."

"It would be a 5 star but it crashes 4 or 5 times on a short scenario to right after a large one loads it crashes. The only saving grace is the game saves as it crashes so you can go back to where you left off. It is fun other than that but because it crashes way too often I cannot recommend this game."

Overall - a very strong showing for Hexwar. It is hoped that they continue to succeed and add more advanced games on mobile. Now that Slitherine has bowed out of mobile games - Hexwar is poised to take center stage and be the dominant Publisher in this field. Original comments: So far - am very happy. Installed well. DESCRIPTION
Civil War: 1861 covers the opening battles of the American Civil War. The game covers both the small and large actions of that momentous year, starting with the battle at `Big Bethel`, on to the comparatively vast engagements at `Bull Run` and `Wilson`s Creek`.
In 1861 both sides have plenty of volunteer recruits who, though enthusiastic, lack battlefield experience. On the weaponry side much of the equipment still belongs to the Napoleonic Era with a plethora of muzzle loading, smoothbore artillery.
Many of the commanders, who most would identify as the leaders the civil war armies, are still junior officers in the engagements recreated in this game. Command the Union or Confederate forces in these key battles.
Can you change history? Good luck and on to battle!
