"The move to a subscription model for core banking features is disappointing. Charging customers to test those features for you is even more distasteful. I can only imagine finances must be looking rough for Up to make this move. Was not thinking I`d be switching away banks any time soon, but the reasons which existed to use Up (comparatively high interest rates ❌, unmatched feature set❓, no fees❓) are now being challenged by this pivot in strategy. Soon, all that will remain is a good theme."

"I`ve been an UP user for a number of years, and like the service, app functionality, decent interest rates and transparency. What I don`t like is the sudden turn toward a subscription model, and certainly not the approach to charge users a premium to beta test their features for them. I get paid to test software, like, for my day job - I have close to a decade of professional experience in it, and I know what it`s worth. I genuinely hope you won`t be essentially paywalling roadmapped features. I signed up because UP has no fees - bank fees are bs. What exactly makes UP different from a bank that has offered the same features for years, but charges fees, in that case...? And I`m certainly not swayed by the offer of merch from a bank - I`m not paying you money for the privilege of advertising your services on my person. Deeply confusing and concerning turn. It`s definitely got me at a loss."
