Το ΚΑΣΤΟΜ, είναι ένα σύστημα παρακολούθησης της ατμοσφαιρικής ρύπανσης, το οποίο παρέχει πρωτογενείς και επεξεργασμένες πληροφορίες για την ποιότητα του αέρα, μέσω διαδικτύου αλλά και κατάλληλης εφαρμογής έξυπνου τηλεφώνου, ανάλογα με τις ανάγκες των ενδιαφερομένων.

Για την αναλυτική περιγραφή και την πρόγνωση της ποιότητας αέρα, το ΚΑΣΤΟΜ συνδυάζει τα παρακάτω:

Τρισδιάστατα μοντέλα ποιότητας αέρα (WRF/CAMx)
Καινοτόμα μοντέλα ανθρωπογενών και φυσικών εκπομπών (MOSESS/NEMO)
Επικαιροποίηση των εκπομπών με τη χρήση δορυφορικών δεδομένων,
δίκτυα μικροαισθητήρων και,
Μεθοδολογίες υπολογιστικής νοημοσύνης για την ποιοτική αναβάθμιση των μετρήσεων και την συνδυασμένη χρήση (fusion) των διαθέσιμων πληροφοριών.
