"This is a fun, and amazing game in the Zenithian trilogy. This game is the definitive version of Dragon Quest IV and I highly recommend you get it. It really is just a DS port with the party chat feature that was left out in that version. The only thing that truly bugs me is the fact that at the time of this review, the game crashes whenever you use the merchant Torneko`s ``Appraise`` ability. Torneko gives his own unique commentary on the items, but we miss out on that. Still a great title."

"I was wary of the complaints about the translation, but they`ve proven unfounded. It`s quite decent; people are confusing the phonetic spelling and intentionally broken or dialectic english with poor writing. The use of these devices is common in early rpgs, before audible speech and detailed graphics could be used to convey ethnic variations. This adds distinctiveness to each region, though it demands more of the reader (eg: familiarity with legitimate, but obscure words like ``ken`` and ``bairn``.)"

"It`s a good port. Decent controls and options. PLEASE make a Mute option for sounds and background music! You can only control loud/quiet but I`d like to be able to turn them off entirely."

"Older versions of the game secretly let Taloon, in Chapter 3, come to the store as a customer, after a customer sells a Cautery Sword (Sword of Malice), and buy it for himself. WHY would you implement a NEGATIVE quality-of-life adjustment by REMOVING that???? It was the most fun secret in all of Chapter 3!! Sorry, but I cant give 5 stars, after this. its almost perfect, in every other way, though."

"One of the best jrpg`s around. The ability to upload your save to the cloud and carry on playing somewhere else on another system is great. Characters and story are brilliant, amount of content is massive. Good value for money."

"A true classic! Probably the best version of this particular entry in the series - the touch screen controls are quick and intuitive, the game looks great and the graphics are bright and colourful."

"Don`t get me wrong, I really like the game. More than dragon quest 5 to be honest but what i don`t like is the drm... Why can i not play this gem offline or any other game from square offline... like why does the categories when looking at the store for this game say ``offline`` when it is clearly false and and purposely misleading?"

"Honeslty a masterpiece. This game went beyond what I thought Dragon Quest games were capable of, and I`m amazed at how old it is, and the fact that it still holds up as one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. My only wish is that the character icons in the battle screen would look a lot nicer if they were bigger and the UI was shrinken to accomodate. Also the gooroo enemies are unacceptable and should at the very least never show up in another DQ title."

"Amazing game and easy to play on a mobile device. I`ve beaten it multiple times on NES and mobile and this is a great updated version of the NES classic!"

"Having the fully localized party chat feature alone makes this version of DQ4 a 5/5 for me since it was not included in the DS release. The awesome story, characters, settings are all great. No more strange unsycnched movement between screens like the DS had. If you`re wanting to replay this game or experience for the first time I`d recommend this version."

"This is an enhanced port of the DS version. Runs great on my Pixel 2 XL, but the demands of the game aren`t high so it should run even on aging hardware. Sideloaded it onto my Fire HD8 tablet and the game still runs nicely there, and those tablet components are bargain-bin level. Fun RPG. A little basic by modern standards but if you enjoy grinding the game is over in 25ish hours. I enjoyed it."
